Lead Software Development Engineer in Test

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive suites of manual and automated test plans and test cases, maintaining and adding to the existing automation framework, evaluating test cases for inclusion in regression, adding automation for newly integrated features, and developing of toolsets to augment QA and Development testing.

The SDET is also responsible for performance and scalability testing. If needed, the SDET will start by defining test strategies and plans, checking hardware and software environments, selecting tools, and setting application instrumentation requirements. Once the overall environment is ready, the SDET will set-up, execute, and process and summarize performance and load test results. If needed, the SDET may need to write specialized testing tools.

The SDET will also work closely with Software Developers and other QA engineers in small scrum teams to deliver the highest quality products in a timely and cost-effective manner. Specific duties and responsibilities include creating, maintaining and executing test plans and test cases against, estimating test efforts, analyzing and communicating test results, defect tracking and participating in day-to-day QA Activities.

  • 5-7 years of experience (minimum)
  • Experience with SQL and Java is preferred
  • Knowledge of Java, REST, HTML-5, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Demonstrated skill in testing enterprise distributed systems
  • Knowledge of automation testing tools such as JMeter, Selenium, LoadRunner and others
  • Knowledge of performance and scalability test approaches and automation
  • Passion for finding bottlenecks and thresholds in existing code through the use of automation tools
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to root cause complex issues required
  • Demonstrated skill using code repositories
  • Passion for creating and executing test plans
  • Passion for continuing education and improving code quality
  • Demonstrated skill in using coding standards and being an active participant in code reviews
  • Strong time management skills with a history of meeting commitments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
